About SeaLink

Our Story

SeaLink is Auckland’s drive on link to Waiheke and Great Barrier Islands. With our safe, comfortable ferries and the convenience of a drive on, drive off service, we’ll help you make the most of these two unique destinations and the other Hauraki Gulf Islands.

Our Waiheke services operate every day of the year, so you can choose the departure time that suits you best. Sailings depart daily from Wynyard Quarter, Auckland City and Half Moon Bay, East Auckland. Ferry services start from as early as 5:00am and run till early evening.

Our Great Barrier services operate all year round with up to seven sailings a week during the summer season and four sailings a week during the winter season. Ferry services leave Wynyard Quarter, Auckland City and return from Tryphena or Port Fitzroy.

Your journey starts as soon as you arrive at the terminal. Enjoy a drink and snack from the licensed café/bar onboard, relax and let our skipper do the driving and enjoy the scenery on your way to the islands.

We’re passionate about the islands we travel to and the communities we service.

Our history

Since 1960 SeaLink New Zealand (previously known as Subritzky Shipping Services) have been plying the waters of the Hauraki Gulf with safe, fast and reliable services for vehicles, passengers, freight, heavy road machinery and bulk supplies for the Hauraki Gulf islands.

From 2004 to 2011 the company was in the hands of the South Australian tourism operator, Kangaroo Island SeaLink. The company quietly reverted back to New Zealand ownership in 2011 and is now owned by Lyncroft Holdings.

SeaLink Logistics (formerly FreightLink) was founded in 2008. The company owns and operates a versatile fleet with vans, trucks, hi-ab’s, trailers and trailer units so they can cater to all your transportation needs.

In 2014 SeaLink purchased Pine Harbour ferries, adding three fast passenger ferries to the fleet. Closely followed was the purchase of Clipper V giving Pine Harbour a total of four passenger ferries to cover the Pine Harbour to Auckland City commuter service.
