We do our best to get you where you need to go, safely and on time. Sometimes delays or disruptions can happen because of the weather, marine conditions or changes in operations.

Thanks for your patience when they do. We will always keep you updated and do what we can to get you moving again quickly.

Updates

When things change, we do our best to keep you in the loop. That is why we ask for your mobile number and email address when you book.

If sailings are affected, we will update the travel alerts on our website and do our best to contact you directly.

We strongly recommend taking out travel insurance to cover any unexpected changes to your plans.

All of our ferries operate within strict safety limits. Your safety and comfort, and that of our crew, is always our top priority. If our Skipper and Marine Operations Manager decide it is not safe to sail, the ferry will not depart.

Weather disruptions

Weather can shift quickly on the Hauraki Gulf and sometimes it affects our sailings. If we need to reschedule a Great Barrier trip, we will contact you as soon as possible with new sailing times.

If the weather affects your sailing day, we will look to move you to the next available sailing. If space is limited, customers with existing bookings will take priority. Additional sailings will be scheduled as soon as conditions allow. You will be offered a new sailing or a full refund.

For Waiheke sailings, if we need to cancel due to weather, we will be in touch to offer you an alternative sailing. If the new time does not work for you and you choose to cancel, you will receive a full refund.

Change and cancellation fees

Change and cancellation fees might apply depending on your booking, but we’ll always do our best to help. If you're running late and think you might miss your ferry, give us a call on (09) 300 5900. Letting us know early means we can try to move you to a later sailing and help you avoid extra charges. 

If you are a foot passenger there are no change fees. If you are travelling in a standard vehicle the best way to make changes in online using the manage booking function. There are no change fees for customers managing their booking online.
