Great Barrier Island (Tryphena)
Tryphena Wharf is our main terminal on Great Barrier Island, and your gateway to and from the mainland. Tucked into one of the island’s most scenic spots, it’s where we load up with passengers, freight, and island vibes. Regular sailings keep things running smoothly for locals, visitors, and businesses alike. The terminal plays a crucial role in supporting the island’s tourism and local economy by ensuring consistent and reliable access to the mainland. Regular ferry schedules make travel convenient and accessible year-round.

With modern additions like AC/USB charge ports and free WiFi, Sea Quest is a great boat to explore the Gulf on. A spacious and comfortable café awaits in the cabin and passengers are welcome to head to the large top deck for a great view. Boarding the ferry
Boarding by foot
If you're travelling as a foot passenger, we have a loading area for foot passengers to gather. The traffic marshal or crew will direct you when it is time to load. For your own safety we do not allow foot passengers and vehicles to load at the same time. Please follow the crew instructions and walk in the pedestrian areas only.
Unaccompanied children
We strongly recommend that a parent or guardian accompany passengers under 14 years of age on all services. Children under the age of 7 years must be accompanied by an adult passenger at all times. Children aged between 7 and 12 years inclusive may travel alone when a Parent and or Guardian completes an 'Unaccompanied Minor' form online or at check-in.
